The dangers of sitting have been preached far and wide. Plenty of peer-reviewed papers argue that stationary lives are shorter and trouble-ridden. The chief workarounds are numerous — frequent breaks, standing desks, stretching, taking walks, etc. None, however, address the basic fact that in order to get stuff done, sometimes we just need to sit in a chair and do it.

However, it’s essential to have a quality desk chair – known in the office furniture industry as “task seating.” It should feel comfortable and supportive while being adjustable to conform to changes in the way you sit. A good chair adapts to you, not the other way around.

To get you started, here are three performance office/desk chairs that measure up in both quality and design with other industry favorites.

G20 Ultimate Synchronized Tilter Task Chair

Regardless if you are leaning back to swipe a tablet, or are moving forward to review project details, the G20 office chair offers only the highest quality in office seating. It combines harmony with both form and function. It’s one of a kind lumbar tension system adjusts to differences in body shape and pressure guaranteeing support and comfort for your back.  Two Men Leaning Back in a Synchronized Tilter Performance Task Chair

You have your choice of base finishes in black or polished aluminum and black or white mesh upholstery.

Features:

  • The G20 is a synchronized tilter adjusting automatically to body weight.
  • Technically superb advanced ergonomics.
  • Cast aluminum with broad sweeping lines and delicate edge details which are carefully worked with stylized nylon components for a simple, crisp profile.
  • As the back smoothly tilts backward, the synchronized mechanism lets the seat recline gently and slide to the rear.
  • The back mesh is comprised of alternating vertical rows of clear elastomeric yarns and black polyester yarns.
  • The lumbar support is completely active and can be raised or lowered to fit the preferences of the user.
  • The result is an office desk chair that is tremendously comfortable while appealing to refined tastes in design.

Vion Mesh Transitional Chair Series

Fashion and function collide in this office chair designed by Zooey Chu.  The breathable mesh back, contoured to offer total body support, is available in both task and guest chairs. Sculpted arms allow users to rest their forearms when typing up their project proposals.

Be Sure to Try Them On

Luckily for us, many companies are striving to best each other at designing the best office chairs. Although they are aware it’s not strictly possible. No single chair is going to be the best for everyone. Just like clothing and shoes, office and desk chairs can fit various body types very differently. A desk chair that I might find too confining may be perfect for someone shorter or with a smaller frame. Seating mileage can vary from one person to the next. If you are able, visit showrooms and stores in your area. If you are looking for office chairs in Houston, come see us! Sit down, lean forward, lean back, pull levers, push buttons, and ask lots of questions. Your body and brain will thank you.
